The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are coming to Vancouver! The 2010 Winter Games will be an experience for Vancouver unlike any other, as we play host to the world’s top winter athletes. With over 5,000 athletes and officials, 10,000 media members, 14,000 volunteers and 2.3 million attendees, Vancouver will be in the global spotlight as we put on the biggest event in our city’s history.
From January through March, Vancouver will be filled with excitement, each day packed with events for people of all ages.
It starts with the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, which is currently running across Canada and will arrive in Vancouver on February 11, 2010, the night before the Opening Ceremonies.
At our downtown LiveCity sites, we’ll have nightly performances featuring free shows by artists from Canada and around the world, and big screens to catch all of the action at Games events.
Vancouver House, located at LiveCity Yaletown, will showcase the best Vancouver’s local businesses and non-profits have to offer, everything from new media, green technology, to the creative sector.
We'll have pedestrian corridors set up on some of most popular downtown streets. The Olympic Line, a free modern streetcar demonstration service, will run between Granville Island and the Olympic Village. Community centers across the city will also have screens set up to watch the Games. And we’ve got extended patio hours at restaurants around Vancouver, so you can enjoy a meal and the energy of the city after taking in an Olympic or Paralympic event.
The 2010 Winter Games is going to be the biggest party Vancouver has ever seen, and we're looking forward to celebrating with you!
