Mayor at Taiwanese Fest 1

On Friday night, in front of a large crowd at the corner of Granville and Robson, Mayor Robertson helped kick off LunarFest. As part of the Cultural Olympiad, LunarFest is Canada’s “premier presenter of contemporary expression in Asian arts and culture.”  The launch event was at the site of the popular Lantern Forest, where a portion of Granville Street is covered with lanterns designed by school children from Taiwan and Canada.

“The Lunar New Year is always a time of community celebration in Vancouver, and this year, the Year of the Tiger, is even more special because we are also hosting the world for the 2010 Winter Games,” said Mayor Robertson.
