Mayor Robertson joined representatives from AIDS Vancouver at City Hall Monday to launch the We Care Red Ribbon Campaign, and to declare November as Red Ribbon Month in Vancouver.
"The Red Ribbon Campaign is an essential part of our city's efforts to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS," said the Mayor. "Vancouver has been home to leadership on HIV/AIDS on a number of fronts, whether it's raising awareness or providing treatment and support for the many families and individuals affected. With everyone's support for this year's campaign, we can raise more public awareness about HIV/AIDS and make sure that the message of prevention gets out."
From November 1 to December 1, 2010, AIDS Vancouver will promote a month long public awareness campaign called the We Care Red Ribbon Campaign. The Red Ribbon is the symbol of solidarity and hope for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The We Care Red Ribbon Campaign will focus on this integral symbol to promote the two main themes of the campaign: Stigma and Safer Sex Practices.
