Statement from Mayor Robertson on Typhoon Haiyan

November 9, 2013 | Safer Communities

On behalf of the City of Vancouver, we extend our deepest condolences to the people of the Philippines and all those who have lost loved ones in Typhoon Haiyan, also known as Typhoon Yolanda.

Many Vancouver residents have deep connections to the Philippines and to the Visayas region. To everyone impacted by the typhoon, we send our thoughts and prayers as they struggle to cope with the devastating effects of this unprecedented natural disaster.

As Typhoon Haiyan moves towards Vietnam, we hope that the people of both countries are spared from further harm and remain safe.

Those wishing to support disaster relief efforts and the humanitarian response are encouraged to contact the Canadian Red Cross at www.redcross/typhoon for more information.

- Gregor Robertson, Mayor of Vancouver
