I am deeply saddened to hear of Bing Thom’s passing. One of Vancouver’s most accomplished and treasured architects and a friend, Bing was a true visionary who contributed greatly to building our city’s urban fabric.
I will remember Bing for his passion to create beautiful spaces and places that better communities. His belief in architecture as a transformative tool not only for physical spaces, but also social and economic ones can be felt throughout our city, from community gathering spaces, residences and commercial spaces, to stunning masterworks like the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.
Bing has left a deep impression on Vancouver, and his legacy of using architecture to improve our urban environment will be treasured for generations to come. Deepest condolences to Bing’s family, friends and colleagues.
