Today City Council approved Vancouver’s 2016 Budget. This balanced budget will keep taxes and fees low while making investments in priority areas such as affordable housing, transportation, and infrastructure.
“The City of Vancouver plays a strong role in supporting our city’s economic leadership and enhancing the livability and quality of life for our residents,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. “Vancouver is keeping taxes low while investing in priorities like affordable housing, community services and better service delivery.”
On Friday, October 30, Mayor Gregor Robertson and members of Vancouver City Council presented Dr. David Suzuki with the Freedom of the City award in recognition of his many exceptional achievements following a unanimous vote by City Council.
"Dr. David Suzuki has dedicated his life and career to educating and inspiring us all to take care of our planet and all who live here," said Mayor Gregor Robertson.
The Mayor's Task Force on Mental Health and Addictions met yesterday as part of the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership Conference.
The Task Force received status updates on a number of projects underway to help those suffering from mental illness and addictions, including new information from the VPD detailing positive impacts of outreach and community treatment programs.
All 18 locations for the second annual Doors Open Vancouver were announced today, including two new venues to explore – the Stanley Park Train Yard and the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.
This year’s Doors Open Vancouver will take place on October 3 from 10am to 5pm.
